Joshua 4:14 “On that day the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, so that they revered him, just as they had revered Moses all the days of his life.”
>>>God exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel.
*“exalted” means “caused to be of major significance/importance”.
*God made Joshua an important figure to Israel.
>>>Joshua’s exaltation was in the sight of Israel. This was something that was seen/understood by the people.
*Seen/understood as their new leader.
>>>God’s exaltation of Joshua was to show Israel that he was God’s chosen leader and established as such.

WHOM GOD CHOOSES, HE ESTABLISHES.

>>>God makes it very clear who He wants in a certain place/position.
*David’s house became stronger, while Saul’s became weaker.
*David saw that God had appointed him as king and exalted his kingdom.
*He exalted Solomon in 2 Chron. 1 (after proving him over Adonijah).
>>>When God chooses you for something, He makes a way for it to happen, establishing you (especially true in leadership roles).
*Often we wonder how God will fulfill what He wants from us, but all He asks is our obedience. He handles the rest.
>>>When God chooses someone else for something, He makes a way for it to happen, establishing them.
*Sometimes we are the Israel who needs to see what God is doing and who He is wanting to do it. If God establishes someone (especially a leader), we must accept and obey.

>>>The purpose of God’s exaltation of Joshua was that Israel would “revere” him as they did Moses..
*“revere” means “honor”.
*God wanted the people to honor Joshua as they did Moses.
*HUGE deal! Think of who Moses was.
>>>Moses was not to be opposed as leader. God did not tolerate people coming against whom he had chosen.
>>>Moses’ own sister and brother spoke against him and his leadership.
Numbers 12:6–10 “He said, “Now hear My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, will make Myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. “It is not this way for My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My household; With him I speak mouth to mouth, That is, openly, and not using mysterious language, And he beholds the form of the Lord. So why were you not afraid To speak against My servant, against Moses?” And the anger of the Lord burned against them and He departed. But when the cloud had withdrawn from above the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous.”
>>>God was so angry at how Moses was treated He gave Miriam (Moses’ sister) leprosy!
>>>There was another incident where Korah tried to lead a revolt against Moses.
*There was a showdown.
Numbers 16:28–33 “Then Moses said, “By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these deeds; for it is not my doing. If these men die the death of all mankind, or if they suffer the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me. But if the Lord brings about an entirely new thing and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them with everything that is theirs, and they descend alive into Sheol, then you will know that these men have been disrespectful to the Lord.” And as he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open; and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, and all the people who belonged to Korah with all their possessions. So they and all that belonged to them went down alive to Sheol; and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.”
>>>God caused the ground to swallow those opposing Moses.
>>>This same honor He demanded for Moses He was now demanding for Joshua.

GOD WANTS HIS CHOSEN TO BE HONORED.
